About Us

Our aim is quite simple, whatever we are doing, it is to entertain.

The group has its own studio, located behind the Riverside Community Centre in Malmesbury, where we rehearse, create scenery and sets, and store our costumes and props. In this, we are more fortunate than many drama groups who have to hire rehearsal space and struggle with storage.

Plays (both full length and one act), pantomimes and revues are what we do. Our revues coincide with Malmesbury Carnival (held in August) and our pantos are usually at the end of November. Plays can be something of a movable feast, timing tends to depend on whether or not we have entered a one act play festival but are usually around March/April. We also entertain in local residential and care homes, particularly at Christmas – although Covid restrictions rather put a halt to that. We are musical but not ‘light operatic’.

Our juniors section plays an important part in our pantomimes and revues, both in support of adult performers but also with their own songs, dances and sketches.

Our drama studio is situated on the Flying Monk Grounds behind the main Co-operative store, alongside the Tebury Avon. Since 2000 it has been subjected to flooding, the last time being November 2024. As we are unable to keep the water out attempts are underway to make the building more flood resilient, thereby minimising damage and loss.

Members of the group embrace all aspects of theatre – performance, technical, costume, scenery, props, stage management – and we are always ready to welcome new members. So, pop along and see us – you’ll be glad you did!
